	All energy on Earth comes from our Sun. Harnessing this solar energy using solar cell panel technology and photovoltaic system design techniques is becoming increasingly attractive as the cost of other fuels continues to rise and access to them is threatened. Solar energy system design using photovoltaic (PV) technology is a specific focus for the alternative energy system design services offered by jmrDesign.
The Process During an initial consultation, the client needs are evaluated and available options for PV system components and design approach are discussed in order to focus future efforts in the right direction. A proposal for developing the solar energy system design will be provided based upon the anticipated system complexity and level of design effort required. Although jmrDesign does not normally get involved in solar cell panel design or solar power panel design, recommendations for use of specific PV system components will be made in order to meet the solar PV design requirements. Upon agreement with the client, jmrDesign will utilize customized modeling and analysis software to create a system design optimized to meet the client needs. Many factors are considered during the design process including geographic location, shading, grid-tie versus off-grid, energy autonomy, aesthetic desires, investment lifecycle, and client budget. Simulations of the PV system design will be provided to the client and may be re-run until the system design is optimized for the known operating conditions.
